Walking Tall in The City

Walking Tall in The City was created from the idea that I want to help people and become an image consultant. I’ve always been told that I have a good sense of style dependent on the situation that I am in. Whether it is for work, leisure, or even relaxing around the crib. But I’ve always observed different styles from other people and understood what works for them, and for some what doesn’t work. And my mind gets going, “he would look better in a colorful Ben Sherman shirt than the boring one he has on”, or “she needs to wear a skirt with a longer hemline (Zara has those! hello!)”.

However, I understand that people may not be able to find the right clothing due to their body type.  I know that firsthand being one of the TALLEST girl in my class since the 6th grade.  I mean how hard is that?  Being called a “giant”, “big”, “monster” and honestly hearing from everyone, “god she’s so tall”, “she can’t fit in anything”.  And besides being tall, I’ve been a bit overweight, so that definitely didn’t help. To add to these nuances, I’m Asian. That particular statement relates to Asians or even the stereotypes of them.  Short, thin, petite, great skin, etc.  I had the opposite of all of that. I used to let it get to me, even when I get taunted by adults, but after hedging through my teenage years I’ve realized that I can make myself feel beautiful and not care what others had to say.

So I worked diligently to make my appearance better. I definitely went through my rough phases of what to wear, what size to wear, styles that fit my body and my personality, and the list goes on.  I know #tallgirlproblems and #biggirlproblems. I think I bypassed that and am proud of who I am and how I present myself.

Besides figuring out what to wear, image also involves how you carry yourself. I’ve spent years (actually all my life) trying to figure that out. I’m not a professional but I love listening to people’s ambitions, and figuring out a way to help them to get to where they need to be.  And that’s where the idea of this blog came about.

I’m here to provide ideas in any way possible with girls (and guys!) that can learn from them and help them. My goal is to become an image consultant to help people find what they need to build confidence and build their style.

Enjoy this blog, and I hope I can help anybody along the way.
